ESPN Makes Big Changes to FPI Top 25 Rankings After Week 12

The regular season is almost over. With just two games remaining before the start of the conference championships, Week 12 began with major impact on the line. The action certainly lived up to the bill, and the surprises tell the story of the weekend. After all the results, ESPN’s FPI Top 25 rankings have been updated with big moves following the chaotic Week 12 action.

Many teams are still fighting for a place in the College Football Playoff, and each of the top four teams struggled to some extent on Saturday. number 1 Georgia defeated Kentucky 16-6 while No. 2 State of Ohio eventually moved away Maryland, winning 43-30. #3 Michigan and #4 TCU Both needed last-second field goals to win their respective games, with the Wolverines batting Illinois 19-17 and the Horned Frogs decline Baylor29-28

The biggest surprise of the weekend, however, was 5th place Tennessee not only against losing South Carolina, but completely controlled. South Carolina controlled the game throughout and eventually won 63-38. The loss essentially wipes Tennessee out of the CFP race, which is a crushing blow as that feat feels so close to the weekend.
