OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Baylor Scheierman scored 17 points to lead four Creighton players by double digits, and the 10th-ranked Bluejays pulled away from UC Riverside in the first half, winning 80-51.

Ryan Kalkbrenner, Arthur Kaluma and Trey Alexander each had 12 points for the Bluejays. Creighton has won its first four games by averaging 26.5 points.

Wil Tattersall had 11 points to lead the Highlanders.

Now Creighton is traveling to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational. The Bluejays could face three top-25 opponents next week.

Colorado St. leads South Carolina 85-53 at Charleston Classic

CHARLESTON, SC (AP) — James Moors posted a career-high 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds, and Colorado State defeated South Carolina 85-53 in the Charleston Classic.

Colorado State scored 54 points in the paint — one more than South Carolina’s total. The Gamecocks turned it over 16 times and scored 19 field goals.

Colorado State made nine straight shots in the first half and led 40-19 at halftime as South Carolina went without a goal for the final five minutes and 20 seconds. The Gamecocks had seven field goals and 10 turnovers at the half.

Meechie Johnson made South Carolina’s fourth 3-pointer in the first four minutes of the second half to cap a 9-0 run and go to 48-34. But the Rams stayed hot, scoring 11 of their first 18 field goals to build a 66-38 lead.

UMass beats Colorado 66-63 in Myrtle Beach Invite

CONWAY, SC (AP) — Noah Fernandes scored 22 points, freshman RJ Luis added 18 points and UMass defeated Colorado 66-63 in the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Invitational.

Colorado’s all-out pressure forced a turnover with 1:07 remaining, the 18th of the game for UMass, and Tristan da Silva made a baseline jump at the other end to come within 65-63.

Da Silva missed a 3-pointer on Colorado’s next possession and Fernandes snagged the rebound with 9.6 points remaining before going 1-of-2 for a three-point lead.

After a timeout with 6.5 seconds left, KJ Simpson was off with a 3-pointer, but Colorado got the long rebound and passed it to Simpson, who missed another after time was up.

Robertson hangs up in Portland’s 64-51 win over Air Force 15

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Led by Tyler Robertson’s 15 points, the Portland Pilots defeated the Air Force Falcons 64-51 on Thursday.

The Pilots improved to 4-1 with the win and the Falcons fell to 1-3.

The Mississippi State Defense shuts down South Dakota 79-42

STARKVILLE, Mississippi (AP) — Tolu Smith scored 16 points, Cameron Matthews made all six shots and added 14 points, and Mississippi State beat South Dakota 79-42.

South Dakota had 17 turnovers and 16 field goals against a Mississippi State defense that ranked eighth nationally and allowed just 48.33 points per game. The Bulldogs also competed with opponents shooting 31% and finishing in 11th place. The Coyotes finished 16 of 54 for 30%.

After South Dakota opened the scoring, Mississippi State scored the next 13 points and led the rest of the way by double digits. It was 38-15 at halftime after Mississippi State shot 49% from the floor, with 15 points fewer turnovers and 26 points in the paint.
