UK Economic Development Collaborative to host the 3rd Annual State of the EDC

LEXINGTON, Ky. (November 18, 2022) — The University of Kentucky Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) is hosting its 3rd Annual State of the EDC on Thursday, December 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at The Cornerstone UKFCU Theater. The event will also be broadcast via live stream.

The State of the EDC tells the story of the UK’s economic development and engages all interested parties through a two-way communication channel to ensure EDC’s work meets stakeholders’ needs.

“EDC’s broad collaborative model leverages strong two-way communication and partnership to enhance economic development and prosperity work at the university by building a shared knowledge base, identifying opportunities for collaboration, and focusing on bold ideas together,” said Melody Flowers , EDC Co-Chair.

The first half of the event will include a presentation by George Ward, Co-Chair of the EDC. The second half of the event will feature an audience-led panel discussion with the following subcommittee chairs:

  • Ray Clere, Director of the Stuckert Career Center, Chairman of the Talent Subcommittee;
  • Ian McClure, Associate Vice President for Research, Innovation and Economic Impact, Chair of the Innovation Subcommittee;
  • Alison Davis, Executive Director of the Kentucky Community and Economic Initiative, Chair of the Place Subcommittee;
  • Kim Kluemper, Director of Business Engagement, Chair of the Partnerships Subcommittee; and
  • Marilyn Clark, Supplier Diversity Manager, Chair of the Subcommittee on Equitable Economic Development.

“The first two State of the EDC speeches were delivered virtually to EDC Core Committee participants and all Subcommittee members. This should ensure that all active participants in the EDC are aware of what each subcommittee is working on,” Ward said. “By transitioning to a live event with a livestream option, we will be expanding our reach to the UK campus, interested external stakeholders and community members.”

The event is free and open to both the campus and the community. Register for the event here.
