WALLINGFORD, CT – (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Christine “Chris” Wall, 74, of Wallingford, beloved wife of David Henry Wall III, died at her home in the early hours of November 13, 2022 with her cherished daughter, Sara, her grandson, Caleb, and her beloved husband Dave by her side after a long, brave battle with cancer.
She was born on March 8, 1948 and raised in Setauken, Long Island to the late Charles and Adrienne Lind.
Chris began her career after graduating from Lenox Hill as a Registered Nurse, which she was incredibly proud of. She later earned her BS in Psychology from Charter Oak. When Chris moved to Connecticut in the 1970s, she began working at Yale New Haven Hospital in the emergency room and critical care unit, and also managed the IV team.
She loved leading the IV team because it allowed her to move around the hospital and meet different people. She then worked as a Nursing Superintendent at Veteran’s Memorial Hospital and was instrumental in founding Medi-Quic.
Chris also worked at Midstate Medical Center as an emergency room nurse manager and then spent time as an office manager at Pyramid Primary Care, where she loved working with the elderly and helping with patient education. She then worked for First Coast Medicare where she made many great friends and ended her career as a nurse for Wallingford VNA and Encompass.
Chris loved being a nurse and having the opportunity to make real connections; She enjoyed helping people through their most difficult times and always made them feel more of a person than a patient. As a visiting nurse, she often brought her patients their favorite treats; she loved just sitting and talking with them.
Chris loved learning new things, loved creating, loved organizing, loved giving back and just loved being a part of things. She learned to play several musical instruments, including the harmonica and drums, she was part of a game reading group, and she made fidget blankets for people with Alzheimer’s.
Chris was also an administrator of the Wallingford Community Forum; She loved Pat and Wayne’s message of helping the community and being kind. Chris took great joy in spending time with her friends, whether it was Zumba, the book club, quilting, or planning great meetings as the Queen of the Red Hat Society.
First and foremost, Chris loved her family very much. She would say they were her reason to fight; the thought of leaving her was unbearable. They were her “fight song!” In Chris’ words, “F**K CANCER!”
Chris is survived by her husband Dave; their son David Wall and his wife Suzanne; their son Matthew Wall and his wife Stacey; her daughter Sara Wall; her precious grandchildren who were her light in the darkness, Benjamin, Oliver, Wesley, Meghan, Jenna and her best pal Caleb; her sister Robin Robertson and her husband Don; her brother Carl Lind and his wife MaryJo; her brother-in-law Jim Wall; and many very special nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends, and their trusty dog, Brady. She will really be missed.
The family would like Dr. Special thanks to Scott Gettinger, Halley and Kelly of Smilow Cancer Center; the wonderful nurses and staff at Franciscan Home Healthcare and Hospice; as well as everyone who helped her on her way.
Chris’ family will be welcoming relatives and friends to the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext. Chapel on Tuesday, November 22 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in In Memoriam Cemetery.
